I went out for an early stroll in the Kaiser Center area of Downtown. I was on a mission to figure out where all the people walking around with badges hanging off of their necks worked. Obviously Kaiser, Caltrans and AT&T are some employers, but there are a lot of nooks and crannies in this commercial area.
The high rises are loaded with office space. It’s clear that there are a variety of businesses jammed into this area when standing in the lobby of these buildings.
I was at a place where I was frustrated about everyone working with their badges and myself not having enough work AND living walking distance from these employers. What really disappointed me was the fact that these employers may not know that there are potential candidates for hire just footsteps outside their office complexes. Do they know?
Thankfully that does not concern me anymore because I found another opportunity, however I still have a question for employers: What are you doing to ensure that you hire people within the city that you are headquartered in?
